How to keep yourself motivated? #ASKPAYAL

Question:- How to keep yourself motivated?

Payal's response:

Most of the people whom I meet, they tell me that when they start a business they are very well aware of the fact that it is going to have failures ,problems, obstacles, challenges and knowing this very well, they aren't able to cope up with it and this why business starts to slow down and we aren't able to experience the exponential growth despite all the credentials and skill sets and resources that are available today.

If there is anything as certain as day and night, it is -that there will always be failures, disappointments, and rejections. What matters is what happens after that, like do you need a whole lot of tissues for your tears or do you need tubs of ice cream and a whole lot of food to get you back on track or do you need a lot of people around you to help your spirits come back and get into action.

Getting into a downward spiral and feeling dejected and like a failure is normal, it is natural, what matters is that how long does it continue after the initial moment of losing a deal or after encountering any failures. The initial moments are very tough and in fact, you know even I used to feel the very same when I used to apply for jobs early on in my career and then I would get letters of rejection, one does feel down and like a failure.

It is very natural and normal to feel like a failure, to criticize yourself but what matters is for how long you continue to do this.

The reason why most of us are not able to come back on track, are not able to bounce back soon is because we start to give power to the situation, to the people, and to everything else that is happening around us and that is what makes us feel like a victim. So rather than feeling like a master and a leader, you start to feel like a victim and once you are in this mode of being a victim, your mind starts to get disturbed and you start to doubt yourself at all times .You also start to question yourself. Questions like, "what if I take a risk and fail again" , "what if I do not get the number of clients" , "what if my business doesn't grow, " etc. This cycle continues and when you are in this cycle you feel irritated and angry, you criticize yourself, you cannot get along with your people, and all these start to impact your results.

Rather than waiting to feel motivated to do the job, think of being disciplined. In this Leadership in a Minute series I’ve explained about it. Click here to listen on Spotify.

Hope this is of much value to you in your journey to success.
