How to lead authentically?
Well, in one of my books titled Win the Leadership Game, I have written a chapter called Law of Authenticity, which fundamentally means that you are your true self. It's about knowing who you are as an individual, being who you are, and showing your real self. It's a state where you feel free, easy and calm. You feel undisturbed, untroubled, centred, and very peaceful. When you are your authentic self, you operate in a very nice state of bliss.
So when you are talking about authenticity, the question you have to answer to yourself is how do I think about myself? Because that really matters. When you assume things like no one will pick me for the team, I will never be able to get that role, you show up with that belief in your work, you will show up as that person who cannot do it, and that is a trap that will keep you stuck in old thinking and stop you from taking new actions.
So to find your authentic self, all you need to do is answer this simple question. What would you like to do if there were no consequences for any of your actions? What would you like to do if there wasn't anyone around you to look at you, to judge you, or to punish you, or even know about what you did? What would you like to do if you had the power to do anything in this world? Taking these questions, you need to reflect on them and find your authentic nature, your authentic personality, which you can connect with people, with your teams. That, my friend, is authenticity.
